Happy Tuesday. It is crazy to think that next week is Thanksgiving! Every year, I feel like Thanksgiving break marks the moment where we all start hitting our stride in the classroom. I have to say that moment seems to have come a little early for this group! They continue to impress me with their ability to follow routines and directions. As I tell them, "Good things happen when you make good choices!"
Before I go through the skills for the week, I wanted to take a second to remind everyone that conference sign ups have been sent to your email inbox. I am using Sign Up Genius this year for the first time in an effort to cut down on the amount of managing I need to do on my end in terms of setting up conferences. Sign Up Genius will send you a reminder about your conference and if for whatever reason you need to re-schedule, you will do it through the site itself. Hopefully, you all have found it user friendly and easy to navigate!
Comprehension: Cause and Effect
Amazing Words: medicine, world, chatter, forests, silent, snort, desert, poisonous
Words of the week: home, into, many, them
* This is our LAST week in Unit 1. The kids have been completing open response writing pieces that I will be compiling into a Unit 1 booklet for them to bring home and show you! Keep an eye out!
The kids have been introduced to CK as well as CH. We are taking time to explore these words and we are having some fun building words that have these different sounds. Here is an example of a Making Words lesson where the kids use their magnetic tiles to build smaller words in an effort to try and build the Mystery Word!
For example: Kim has 10 apples. 4 apples are red and the rest are green. How many apples are green?
We will be working on this skill for the remainder of the week! I encourage you to present some similar real life problems like this to your child at home! Get creative!
Have a GREAT week!
